David McDonald Joyce - The History of Armoured Wheeled Vehicles
David McDonald Joyce discusses the evolution of modern armoured fighting vehicles up to the present cutting edge designs from the Paramount Group. He traces the rise of wheeled armoured vehicles, citing the importance of vehicle firepower, blast protection and vehicle mobility in an age when regional crises are typified by their counter insurgency nature. McDonald Joyce discusses the key uses of armoured vehicles, which include peacekeeping, peace enforcement, patrolling, counter insurgency operations and internal security and national defence, and identifies the two most important criteria for today's armoured vehicles: combat vehicles need to meet all operational requirements of the modern world head on and need to be sufficiently armed so that they can be sent into combat without losing off-road capability. Paramount Group's armoured vehicles -- the MBombe, Marauder and Maverick - are all expertly designed to address the issues facing the modern world, McDonald Joyce concludes.
